Men's Basketball loses 86-76 to Vassar

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior guard Brock Bowen scored 19 points in the Tigers 86-76 loss to Vassar, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior guard Chase Dickens hit a pair of free throws early in the first half to give RIT a 7-2 lead.
  • Senior guard Keegan Ocorr scored on a driving layup with 17:08 remaining to extend the Tiger's lead to 11-5.
  • Vassar's She Fitzgerald hit a three-pointer with 10:14 to play in the opening frame to tie the score at 21-21.
  • Vassar outscored RIT 17-8 over the final 6:35 of the first half, taking a 45-38 lead on two Avery Lee free throws with three seconds remaining.
  • Junior guard Brock Bowen hit a three-pointer early in the second half that cut the Vassar lead to 45-41.
  • Fitzgerald made one-of-two free throws with 17:06 to play to give the Brewers a 50-45 lead.
  • Otis cut the Vassar lead to 52-49 on his driving layup with 15:10 remaining, while Bowen's three-pointer gave the Tigers a 53-52 lead.
  • Junior forward Josiah Turner hit a three-pointer from senior guard Matt Caggiano to increase the Tiger's lead to 64-61, and scored on a driving layup with 8:41 to play to give RIT a 71-65 lead with 8:41 to play.
  • Sebastian Medina scored to cut the RIT lead to 71-69, and Devyn Benson tied the game at 71-71 on his bucket with 6:38 remaining.
  • Caggiano hit a three-pointer from senior Keegan Ocorr with 3:12 remaining to cut the Vassar lead to 77-76.
  • Vassar outscored RIT 10-0 over the final 3:12, including six points from She Fitzgerald to make it an 86-76 final
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 28-of-58 (48.3%) from the floor, including nine three pointers.
  • Skidmore held a 40-26 rebounding edge.
  • Dickens tallied 18 points, Turner scored a career-high 12 points and Caggiano chipped in 11 points off the bench.
