Men's Basketball beats Ithaca, 90-80

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Josiah Turner scored a career-high 21 points and senior guard Matt Caggiano tallied a career-best 24 points to lead the Tigers to a 90-80 win over Ithaca, Tuesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Turner gave RIT an 18-8 lead on his layup off an assist from junior guard Brock Bowen early in the first half.
  • Junior guard Chase Dickens gave the Tigers a 12-point lead on his layup with 13:58 to play.
  • Ithaca's Cole Wissink cut the RIT lead to 25-16 on his bucket with 10:54 to play, and Gavin Schauder scored with 8:12 remaining to make it a four-point deficit.
  • Caggiano made one-of-two free throws with seven minutes to play to give RIT a 33-25 lead.
  • Aidan Holmes' three-pointer with 6:13 to play in the opening frame cut the RIT lead to 33-32.
  • Turner capped off a 13-3 Tiger's run with his bucket with 3:48 to play to balloon the RIT lead to nine points.
  • Caggiano scored inside the final minute to give RIT a 52-44 halftime lead.
  • Evan Cabral cut the RIT lead to five points on his bucket early in the second half.
  • Bowen hit a three-pointer with 13:53 to play to give the Tigers a 64-55 lead, while Caggiano scored with 12:22 remaining to give RIT its biggest lead of the game at 14 points.
  • Ithaca's Andrew Geschickter cut the RIT lead to nine points on his bucket with 3:58 to play.
  • Turner scored with 1:24 remaining to increase the RIT lead to 86-73, and again inside the final 30 seconds to make it a 13-point game.
  • Logan Wendell scored late for Ithaca to make it a 90-80 final. 

GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 33-of-60 (55.0%) from the floor, including nine three pointers.
  • RIT held a 42-32 rebounding edge, and scored 40 points in the paint.
  • Dickens finished with 11 points, while Turner grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds.
