No. 19/20 Men's Hockey falls at Niagara, 3-1

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – No. 19/20 RIT lost a 3-1 Atlantic Hockey decision at Niagara, Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first, the Purple Eagles got on the board at 2:09 of the second, scoring on an odd-man rush off an errant Tiger pass at the top of the Niagara zone.
  • Niagara took a 2-0 lead at 9:25 of the second after Purple Eagle goaltender Jarrett Fiske made a save on a Tiger 2-on-1 attempt. A long outlet pass sprung Jay Ahearn the other way, who beat Tiger junior goaltender Tommy Scarfone, glove side, one-on-one.
  • Niagara scored off an RIT neutral zone turnover at 7:50 of the third for a 3-0 lead.
  • The Tigers broke up Fiske's shutout bid with 1:13 left in regulation with Scarfone pulled. First-year forward Matthew Wilde tipped a shot by sophomore defenseman Xavier Lapointe from the left point inside the left post.
