WORCESTER, MA. – The RIT Men's Rowing team finished its season at the National Invitational Rowing Championships on Friday in Worcester, Massachusetts.
The first varsity eight of
Ben Clements,
Alex Nenadic,
David Huelsmann,
Tommy Moore,
Keenan Gildea,
Jack Hill,
Nicolas Langdon,
Adam Dernis, and
Ben Baker placed fifth in their heat with a time of 6:37.054. Qualifying for the third-level finals, the Tigers placed third in that race with a time of 6:16.145, a little over five seconds behind the leading boat from Adrian College.
The second varsity eight of
Jacob Marrer,
Michael DeFranco,
Adrian Edwards,
Tyler Emerson,
Sam Collier,
Luke Willett,
Nolan Smith,
Andrew Meyer, and
Gavin McIlvaine placed sixth in their heat, finishing with a time of 6:58.916. They also finished sixth in the Petite Final with a time of 6:35.354.
The third varsity eight of
Jacob Smith,
Jarid Whitten,
Parker Kinsman,
Samuel Ferreira,
Riley McMichael,
Adam Hunt,
Nick Ricotta,
Emmet Christiansen, and
Nicholas Staley finished fourth in their opening heat with a time of 6:36.483. They then finished second in the petite final with a time of 6:20.166, less than a second behind Bates College.
The competition was the last for RIT under Jim Bodenstedt, who has been the only head coach in program history.
"No better way to go out than knowing every oarsman put it on the line today and raced with tremendous Tiger pride," he said. "I am very proud of all of our boats and the progress they made this season. The future looks very bright."
