Box Score 2 ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team split a doubleheader with Liberty League foe Ithaca on Saturday, winning game one, 4-1, before falling in the second game, 4-0. The split means that the Tigers take the season series against the defending Liberty League champions, two games to one.
GAME 1- RIT 4, Ithaca 1
The Tigers clinched the series win as junior
John Arnold went all seven innings, allowing five hits and a single run while striking out four.
- RIT struck first in the bottom of the third, as graduate student first baseman Ian Libby doubled down the left field line for a double, moving first year third baseman Charlie Slaymaker to third in the process. First year second baseman Jarin Moses followed that up with a double to left of his own, scoring Slaymaker and Libby to make the score 2-0.
- The Tigers took advantage of an error by the Ithaca right fielder to move junior center fielder John Bagley to third, allowing for a one-out sacrifice fly by Slaymaker to extend the lead to 3-0.
- Ithaca got on the board with one out in the sixth inning, as Garrett Callaghan hit a home run over the left field fence to narrow the score to 3-1.
- Two straight errors by Ithaca pitcher Kyle Lambert allowed sophomore right fielder Adam Marsh to score in the bottom of the sixth for the final 4-1 score.
GAME 2- Ithaca 4, RIT 0
Bagley went 2-3 and senior pitcher
Jon Opalewski threw two scoreless innings, but the Tigers lost the series finale.
- Ithaca picked up two runs in the top of the third on a ground-rule double by Callaghan and an RBI groundout by Nicholas Cutaia for the early 2-0 lead.
- Ryan Laubscher singled home Ithaca's third run with two outs in the fifth.
- Laubscher singled in another run in the top of the seventh to extend Ithaca's lead to 4-0, which they held for the rest of the game.

The Tigers host a doubleheader with St. Lawrence on Tuesday. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00 P.M. at the RIT Baseball Complex.
