ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Three RIT student-athletes were named Liberty League Performers of the Week announced Monday, April 24. First-year Zoe Heffernan was named Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. On the men's side, graduate student Matthew Funicelli was named the Men's Field Performer of the week, while first-year Charlie Slaymaker was named the Baseball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.

Heffernan recorded 10 points on five goals and five assists to lead RIT to a 1-1 record last week. The first-year attack tallied a season-high seven points on four goals and three assists in the Tigers 13-9 win at Union, Friday. She scored a goal and added two assists in RIT's loss at Skidmore, Saturday. Heffernan grabbed two ground balls and shot 6-of-6 for the week.

Funicelli swept the hammer and the discus events at Saturday's UofR Invitational. He broke a 12-year-old program hammer record (57.97m/190' 2") with the nation's 10th best mark this spring while winning the discus with a 47.31m/155' 2" performance. Funicelli currently leads the Liberty League and ranks in the top-25 nationally in the shot put, discus and hammer.

Slaymaker went 7-for-15 (.466) with 7 RBI, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, and a walk. He also had a flare for the dramatic, hitting the game-winning extra-innings home run against Hobart on Saturday before hitting a walk-off single against the Statesmen on Sunday. The home run against Hobart on Saturday was his second of the game and the second time this season he's hit two HR in a game.
