Box Score ORLANDO, FL. – The RIT Tigers fell to Waynesburg, 12-9, in their first game of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Tigers scored first, scoring three in the bottom of the second. First-year 3B Charlie Slaymaker drove in senior catcher Kyle Poorman with no outs, first-year 2B Jarin Moses walked with the bases load to bring in another, and junior SS Randy Dodig brought home Slaymaker with a sacrifice fly.
- Waynesburg narrowed the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the fourth.
- Graduate 1B Ian Libby singled home first-year DH Trent Rapp with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-2.
- After Waynesburg scored one run in the fifth, the Tigers responded with four runs on singles by Moses and Poorman as well as junior Jon Bagley reaching on an error to extend the lead to 8-3.
- Waynesburg scored five runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to take an 11-8 lead.
- Bagley singled home senior LF Chris Reilly with two outs in the eighth to narrow the Waynesburg lead to 11-9.
- Waynesburg notched a final run in the ninth for the 12-9 win.
GAME NOTES:
- Moses led the Tigers with three RBI, going 1-3 with a walk.
- Junior pitcher John Arnold struck out eight.
- Reilly, Poorman, Bagley, and sophomore RF Adam Marsh each had two hits.
