ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT fifth-year defenseman
Gianfranco Cassaro was named the Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, Monday.
Cassaro scored two goals, including what proved to be his fourth game-winning tally of the season, in Friday's 5-4 victory over No. 10 New Hampshire. He also added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 OT setback.
Cassaro is currently tied for second nationally in game-winning goals, second only to Boston College's Cutter Gautheir's five. He is also tied for second nationally among defensemen with six goals.
Cassaro landed four weekly league honors last season en route to being named an Atlantic Hockey First-Team all-star.
No. 19 RIT returns to Atlantic Hockey action opposite visiting Robert Morris this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 1-2) at 7:05 p.m. both nights.
