Men's Basketball downs Alfred State, 66-56

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior forward Kenny Wilburn scored 16 points to lead the Tigers to a 66-56 win over Alfred State, Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Alfred State's Paris Jamison scored on a layup with 14:42 remaining in the opening half to give the Pioneer's an 11-7 lead.
  • Wilburn scored off an assist from senior guard Brandon Weiss to tie the game at 11-11.
  • Junior guard Chase Dickens drained a three-pointer with 12:49 to play to give the Tigers a 16-13 lead, while senior guard Brock Bowen gave RIT a 20-15 lead on his bucket with 10:29 remaining.
  • Dylan Perry hit a three-pointer for the Pioneers to cut the RIT lead to 22-21.
  • Wilburn scored with 2:03 to play to give the Tigers a 31-29 lead, but Zachary Gilebarto scored with 1:20 remaining to cut the RIT lead to 31-30.
  • Dickens scored early in the second half to extend the RIT lead to 37-32.
  • First-year guard Brody Brown capped off a 6-2 RIT spurt with his bucket with 15:32 to play to give the Tigers a 41-34 lead.
  • Emmanuel Leftenant converted a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 41-36, while Cody Schneider scored with 14:29 remaining to make it a three-point game.
  • Jamison converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 5:20 to play to tie the game at 51-51.
  • RIT outscored the Pioneers 15-6 over the final five minutes, led by seven points from senior guard Matt Caggiano.
  • Brown made key free throws in the closing minutes to secure the 66-56 win.

  • RIT shot 24-of-52 from the floor, including four three-pointers
  • Caggiano tallied 15 points, while Dickens finished with 12
  • The Tigers held a 36-29 rebounding edge, and scored 38 points in the paint and 16 off turnovers
