Men's Basketball loses 86-70 to Nazareth

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – RIT senior forward Kenny Wilburn scored 18 points in the Tigers 86-70 loss against Nazareth at the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout, Saturday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Wilburn scored off an assist from junior guard Brock Bowen with 15:32 to play in the first half to give RIT a 15-5 lead.
  • Nazareth's Logan Blankenberg cut the RIT lead to 17-11 on his three-pointer with 14:02 to play in the half.
  • First-year Nolan Smith scored off an assist from senior Ronnie Toole III with 9:10 to play to give the Tigers a 27-21 lead.
  • Blankenberg scored with 4:14 to play to make it a one-point game and drained a three-pointer with 3:23 remaining to give the Golden Flyers a 36-34 lead.
  • Wilburn scored to cut the deficit it 42-36, but Blankenberg hit another three-pointer inside the final minute of the half to give Nazareth a 45-36 halftime lead.
  • Junior guard Chase Dickens hit a three-pointer off an assist from Bowen to cut the Nazareth lead to 50-45 capping off a 7-3 spurt by the Tigers to being the second half.
  • Blankenberg hit his sixth three-pointer of the game with 15:49 remaining to give Nazareth a 55-45 lead.
  • Dickens cut the Nazareth lead to five points on his jumper with 12:15 to play.
  • Blankenberg scored with 6:25 remaining to give the Golden Flyers a 75-59 lead
  • Senior guard Matt Caggiano made two late free throws to make it an 86-70 final.
 
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 29-of-61 from the floor, including four three-pointers
  • Wilburn was an All-Tournament Team selection
  • Nazareth held a 34-28 rebounding advantage
  • Dickens finished with 14 points, while Caggiano scored 12 off the bench
