Women’s Basketball loses 67-33 to Ithaca

ROCHESTER, NY – RIT graduate center Andreja Peciuraite scored 12 points in a 67-33 Tigers loss to Ithaca on Tuesday at Clark Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ithaca took an early 4-0 lead before RIT cut the lead in half on a jumper by junior guard Mya Richardson with 5:06 left in the first quarter to make it 4-2.
  • Sophomore forward Sonya Shivok tied the score at four by hitting two free throws with 4:35 left in the first quarter.
  • The Tigers took their first lead of the night with 3:54 left in the first quarter on a layup by junior guard Emma Waite.
  • Sophomore guard Lila McGuiggin had the Tigers first three-point field goal of the game, putting the Tigers ahead 9-6 with 2:27 left in the half.
  • Ithaca went on a 6-0 run in the final minute to enter the second quarter up 12-9.
  • RIT tied the score again early in the second quarter, equalizing 14-14 on a jumper from Peciuraite with 9:01 left in the quarter.
  • Ithaca then went on a 9-2 run to pull ahead 23-16.
  • RIT trailed at the half, 32-25.
  • The Tigers opened scoring in the second half with a free throw by first-year guard Abigail Smith with 7:53 left in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 32-26.
  • Ithaca would outscore RIT the rest of the quarter, 6-4, to extend their lead to 38-30.
  • Ithaca pulled away more in the fourth quarter to secure the 67-33 victory.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 11-of-50 from the floor, including 4-of-14 from beyond the arc.
  • Ithaca rebounded RIT, 47-40.
  • McGuiggin had seven points.
  • Smith had two blocks, extending her team lead.
