RIT Athletics Preview: April 18-24

MEN'S LACROSSE (12-1, 4-1 Liberty League)
Senior midfielder Marley Angus scored four goals to lead No. 3 RIT to a 16-6 win against Clarkson, Saturday. The Tigers broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Golden Knights 8-0 in the quarter. Sophomore defenseman Mike Grace finished with two goals and an assist, while senior Ryan Barnable tallied two goals. Senior goalie Drew Hutchison made 10 saves in net to improve to 12-1 on the season.

Seniors Quinn Commandant and Conor Bollin and junior Luke Pilcher each recorded four points to lead RIT to a 19-6 win at Ithaca, Wednesday. Senior Quinn Commandant finished with two goals and two assists, while Hutchison made 14 saves in net.

RIT, ranked No. 2 in this week's USILA Division III Coach's Poll, hosts Geneseo on Wednesday (April 20) and plays at Skidmore on Saturday (April 23).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE (4-8, 2-5 Liberty League)
Senior Aldyn Savage scored five goals and added an assist in the Tigers 22-11 loss to No. 9 Ithaca, Saturday. Senior Colette Rigas tallied three goals, while senior Steph Darrell tallied a goal and handed out two assists. Freshman goalie Linda Nutter made eight saves in net for the Tigers.

RIT returns to action on Friday (April 22) at home against Union and Saturday (April 23) versus Skidmore. RIT will honor the class of 2022 prior to Saturday's game.

BASEBALL (15-13, 5-6 Liberty League)
Senior Ian Libby went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while sophomore Randy Dodig went 3-for-3 in RIT's 3-2 loss against Ithaca, Saturday.

Libby had three hits and senior Nic Stagnitta and junior Kyle Poorman each had a pair of hits in the Tigers 16-10 loss to Ithaca in game one, Friday. Freshman Sam Kulp had two hits and senior Chris Reilly drove in a pair of runs in RIT's 12-4 loss in game two of Saturday's double header.

Baseball hosts Union on Saturday (April 23) and Sunday (April 24). RIT will honor the class of 2022 in between games on Saturday.

SOFTBALL (5-15, 0-6 Liberty League)
RIT dropped a pair of games to Union, 4-2 and 5-1, Saturday. The Tigers lost 24-12 and 11-0 (5 inn.) at home to Rochester, Friday. Freshman Erin Ozminkowski went 2-for-4, drove in four runs and scored two runs in game one. Senior Hannah Trumble went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while senior Jill Vorreiter, junior Alexis Smith and freshman Chloe McManus each had two hits.

RIT is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday (April 20) against Buffalo State, Clarkson on Saturday (April 23) and St. Lawrence on Sunday (April 24).

MEN'S TENNIS (8-8, 2-5 Liberty League)
RIT lost 7-0 at LeMoyne, Saturday and 8-1 against Hobart, Wednesday. The team of graduate student Jacob Meyerson and freshman Joel Pho won 8-6 at second doubles.

RIT returns to action on Friday (April 22) at Union and Sunday (April 24) at Wilkes.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (5-8, 1-5 Liberty League)
RIT lost 7-2 against St. Lawrence, Friday. Graduate student Julia Smolowitz and senior Kirsten Auble teamed up to win 8-4 at third doubles, while Auble was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at third singles.

Auble won the deciding match, winning 6-3, 6-1 at third doubles to help the Tigers to a 5-4 win over William Smith, Tuesday. Smolowitz , sophomore Abby Murray and senior Julianne Ho were all winners in singles. Auble and Smolowitz teamed up to win 8-0 at third doubles.

RIT returns to action on Tuesday (April 19) against Alfred, Friday (April 22) at Union and Saturday (April 23) at Hartwick.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
RIT competed at the Brockport Invitational, Friday. Freshman Ben Sheehan won the long jump (7.02m/23'0.5"). Senior Nick John won the pole vault (4.40m/14' 5.25").

RIT returns to action on Saturday (April 23) at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
RIT competed at the Brockport Invitational, Friday. Graduate student Tirzah Pilet finished second in the discus (35.88m/117' 8"), while junior Catherine Fox placed second in the pole vault (3.20m/10' 6").

MEN'S ROWING
The men's varsity eight finished second behind Ithaca, Saturday. The boat of Ben Clements, Alex Carey, Tommy Moore, Dan Shaw, Matthew Lindstedt, Keenan Gildea, Andrew Cuomo, Gage Blackwell and Jake Michalski finished second in a time of 6:35.2.

RIT returns to action on Saturday (April 23) at home against St. Lawrence.

WOMEN'S ROWING
The RIT women's varsity eight finished second behind Ithaca, Saturday. The boat of Zoe Prince, Michelle Carney, Rebecca Harris, Izzy Moyer, Velvet Howland, Margaret Carey, Natalie Siwek, Lily Gaffney and Eliza Papke finished second in a time of 7:44.0.

RIT returns to action on Saturday (April 23) at home against St. Lawrence.
