Wilkie lands third Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT freshman forward Carter Wilkie was voted the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month for March, announced Monday.

Wilkie won the award for the third time this season and for the first time since landing back-to-back honors in October and November. A seven-time Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week selection, he was recently named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Year and a member of the conference's All-Rookie squad.

Wilkie scored the game-winning goal and also blocked a pair of shots in RIT's series-clinching 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart in the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals. He also logged two assists in the Tigers' 4-3 setback to Air Force in the Atlantic Hockey Semifinals.

Wilkie led the Tigers with 30 points and 17 assists, while finishing second with 13 goals during his first season. He also tied for second in the nation with six game-winning goals, three of which were overtime game-enders.

RIT finished with an 18-16-4 record, including a 12-10-4 Atlantic Hockey mark to earn the fourth seed for the conference postseason. The Tigers won their best-of-three quarterfinal matchup versus Sacred Heart, 2-1, to advance to the ninth Atlantic Hockey Semifinal game in program history.
