Alyssa Juergens scored 11 points to lead RIT (10-8, 7-6 Liberty League) to a 49-36 win over Clarkson (5-14, 4-9 Liberty League) Wednesday. Junior
Kaleesha Joseph tallied 10 points and had nine rebounds, while freshman
Sydney Pearson finished with 10 rebounds and nine points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT trailed 14-12 after the first quarter, and outscored Clarkson 13-10 in the second quarter to lead 25-24 at halftime.
- RIT shot 9-of-25 from the floor in the opening half.
- Joseph scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds to pace the Tigers.
- Juergens and Meg Roy each tallied six points, while Mariah Benavides led Clarkson with eight first-half points.
- The Tigers outscored Clarkson 11-8 in the third.
- Freshman Sonya Shivok scored with 43 seconds to play in the fourth quarter to give RIT a 36-32 lead.
- RIT scored six straight points early in the fourth quarter, taking a 42-34 lead on an Emma Waite layup with 6:54 to play.
- Juergens capped off a 9-2 Tigers run with her bucket with 1:47 to play to increase the RIT lead to 49-36.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 19-of-52 from the floor, including 2-of-12 from beyond the arc.
- Juergens shot 5-of-10 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the foul line.
- Waite finished with seven assists to go along with her six points.
- Clarkson's Elaina Porter led the Golden Knights with eight points.
