ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomore
Emma Waite led RIT (11-11, 8-9 Liberty League) with 16 points to lead the Tigers to a 55-42 win over Rensselaer (5-17, 4-13 Liberty League), Friday. Trailing after the first quarter, the Tigers outscored the Engineers 49-28 the rest of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT trailed 14-6 after the first quarter, shooting 3-of-14 from the floor.
- The Tigers outscored RPI 15-10 in the second quarter and trailed 24-21 at halftime.
- RIT shot 9-of-30 in the first half, including 1-of-7 from beyond the arc.
- Waite scored seven points to lead the Tigers, while Ashlyn O'Neil led RPI with eight points.
- RIT outscored the Engineers 18-6 in the third quarter, including a 6-0 spurt to start the quarter.
- Junior Kaleesha Joseph scored early in the quarter to give RIT 25-24 lead.
- Freshman Sonya Shivok scored late in the fourth quarter to give the Tigers a 19-point lead.
- The Tigers outscored RPI 16-12 in the fourth quarter.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 10-of-63 from the floor, including 2-of-12 from beyond the arc.
- Joseph tallied 11 points and had six rebounds
- Senior Alyssa Juergens finished with 11 points.
- Ashlyn O'Neil scored 12 points to lead RPI
- With the win, RIT remains in the sixth and final LIberty League Tournament spot.
