ERIE, Pa. – RIT freshman goaltender
Tommy Scarfone was credited with 27 saves in a 1-0 loss at Mercyhurst, Friday, in Atlantic Hockey action.
GAME NOTES
- Mercyhurst's Cade Townend scored a power-play tally with 11:50 left in the second period for what proved to be the lone goal of the game after RIT was whistled for a holding penalty 1:32 earlier.
- RIT finished scoreless on five power-play attempts, including a five minute span early in the third period after Mercyhurst's Owen Norton was saddled with a boarding major and a game misconduct.
- RIT finished with a 34-28 shooting advantage, but were held scoreless for the fourth time this winter as Laker goalie Kyle McClellan posted his second shutout of the season.
- RIT senior defenseman Dan Willett played his RIT Division I-era record 157th career game and sits one short of the Atlantic Hockey record held by Mercyhurst's Tyler Shiplo (2011-15) and Canisius' Ben Danford (2010-14). Senior forward Jake Hamacher also moved into a tie for fourth place in conference history with his 156th appearance.
- Freshman forward Carter Wilkie won a game-high 12-of-17 faceoffs.
