Carter Wilkie was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week, while senior
Gianfranco Cassaro was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week, Monday. Wilkie garnered his third Atlantic Hockey honor of the season while Cassaro landed his fourth.
Wilkie totaled two goals, two assists, blocked two shots and won 14-of-23 faceoffs in RIT's 10-4 victory at Canisius, Saturday. He also assisted the Tigers' lone goal in Friday's 2-1 OT setback while winning 15-of-24 faceoffs.
Cassaro logged a goal and three assists and took a team-high 10 shots in Saturday's win after adding an assist on Friday.
Wilkie currently leads Atlantic Hockey with 1.31 points per game and is tied for second with 21 points as well as 13 assists. He is also tied with Cassaro for second in the league with eight goals, while Cassaro is tied for third with 20 points and fourth with 12 assists.
RIT (12-4, 10-2 Atlantic Hockey) moved back into the national rankings at No. 20 following the weekend. The Tigers are off for the holidays until taking on No. 5 Penn State in a home-and-home series, Dec. 30-31. The Tigers will host the Nittany Lions in the opener at 5:05 p.m. before heading to State College the following day for a faceoff at a time to be announced.
