Men's Basketball loses to St. John Fisher, 89-81 in Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout

ROCHESTER, NY – RIT senior forward Kevin Ryan scored 17 points in the Tigers 89-81 loss to St. John Fisher in game two of the 2022 Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout, Saturday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • St. John Fisher's Matt Panara gave the Cardinals a 31-29 lead on his three-pointer with 6:09 remaining in the first half.
  • First-year forward Joe Harrington capped off a 17-2 RIT run with his bucket with 2:32 remaining in the opening stanza to give the Tigers a 46-33 lead.
  • Sophomore guard Brock Bowen scored with 17 seconds remaining in the half to give the Tigers a 48-37 halftime lead.
  • Ryan scored 13 of his 17 points in the opening half on 4-of-4 shooting from the floor, and 5-for-5 from the foul line.
  • St. John Fisher began the second half on a 15-4 run, tying the score at 52-52 on a Brendan Trapper three-pointer.
  • Junior guard Matt Caggiano converted two free throws with 8:15 remaining to cut the Fisher to three points.
  • Ryan Gentile drained a three-pointer with 5:16 to play to give the Cardinals a 12-point lead.
  • Caggiano made a pair of free throws in the final seconds to make it an 89-81 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 49.0 percent from the floor on 24-of-49 shooting.
  • The Tigers made 9-of-24 from beyond the arc.
  • St. John Fisher outrebounded RIT, 35-29.
  • Sophomore guard Chase Dickens scored a career-high 16 points off the bench for the Tigers.
  • Caggiano scored 13, while Bowen tallied 11 points.
  • Ryan was named to the All-Tournament Team.
