Men's Hockey falls at Air Force, 3-2

USAFA, Colo. – RIT senior forward Kobe Walker and first-year forward Simon Isabelle each scored a goal, but it was host Air Force holding off the visiting Tigers for a 3-2 victory in Atlantic Hockey action, Thursday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT opened the scoring with 14:35 on the first-period clock. Walker posted up in front of the Air Force crease and tipped a shot from the left point by senior defenseman Gianfranco Cassaro past Air Force goaltender Guy Blessing.  
  • Air Force tied the game with 9:19 left in the period after Nate Hom stole a puck behind the Tiger net and fed Willie Reim in the slot for the equalizer.
  • The Falcons took the lead with 4:26 left in the period after Brian Adams fed Mason McCormick with a short cross to finish an odd-man rush.
  • Air Force made it a 3-1 game 1:07 into the second period after Will Gavin scored on a wrist shot from right face-off circle.
  • RIT got one back with 2:47 left in the second after Isabelle took a feed from Walker on the Air Force crease and deked Blessing to score a short backhand into an open left post. 
  • The Tigers put 14 shots on Blessing in the third period, but could not find the equalizer. 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT out-shot Air Force, 30-20, as junior goaltender Kolby Matthews was credited with 17 saves in the loss.
  • Junior forward Cody Laskosky logged an assist on the Tigers' opening goal and has notched a point in all five games to start the 2022-23 campaign.
  • Walker's tally was his 30th career goal and 60th career point.
  • Isabelle scored for the second-straight game after notching his first collegiate tally during last Saturday's 8-5 win over Union.
  • Walker registered his 10th career multi-point game and first since tallying a goal and an assist a 3-2 win at Air Force on Feb. 25 last season.
  • Sophomore forward Carter Wilkie won 16-of-28 faceoffs, while Isabelle was 9-of-16.
