Emma Waite scored 20 points and junior
Kaleesha Joseph added 12 points as RIT (5-3, 2-1 Liberty League) lost 70-53 to William Smith (3-6, 2-1 Liberty League) Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Joseph laid the ball in with 5:23 remaining in the first quarter to tie the score at 10-10.
- William Smith outscored the Tigers 8-4 to lead 18-14 after the first quarter.
- RIT scored seven points in the second quarter and trailed 35-21 at halftime.
- Joseph led RIT with eight first-half points.
- Waite cut the William Smith lead to 35-27 on her jumper with 7:35 to play in the third quarter.
- Later in the quarter, Wait made a free throw that cut the Herons lead to 46-37.
- William Smith closed the quarter with a 4-2 spurt to lead 50-39.
- The Herons outscored the Tigers 20-14 in the fourth quarter to make it a 70-53 final.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 20-of-70 from the floor, including 12-of-17 from beyond the arc.
- Waite shot 8-of-20 from the floor to go along with four rebounds and five assists.
- Joseph shot 5-of-10 from the floor, while freshman Sydney Pearson scored nine points off the bench.
- Senior Olivia Parisi was one of three Herons to score in double-figures, finishing with 18 points.
