Emma Waite led RIT (7-7, 4-5 Liberty League) with 19 points apiece in the Tigers 63-52 loss at Clarkson (4-12, 3-7 Liberty League) Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT jumped out to a 9-0 lead on a bucket by Juergens off an assist from Waite in the first quarter.
- Â Juergens extended the Tigers lead to 13-3, and freshman Sydney Pearson laid the ball in with 3:40 to play in the quarter to give RIT a 17-5 lead, its largest lead of the quarter.
- Clarkson closed out the quarter with a 7-2 run, cutting the RIT lead to 17-12 on an Elaina Porter bucket with 1:16 to play.
- Waite scored with 8:22 to play in the second quarter to give RIT a 21-12 lead.
- Juergens pushed the RIT lead to 23-12 on her jumper off an assist from Sarah Henretta, and gave RIT a 30-25 lead on her basket with 1:29 to play in the half.
- Porter scored with :39 seconds that cut the RIT lead to 30-27 at halftime.
- Clarkson scored the first nine points of the third quarter, taking a 31-30 lead on a Mariah Benavides bucket less than three minutes into the quarter.
- Waite scored RIT's first bucket of the third quarter with 4:37 to play that cut the Clarkson lead to 37-32.
- Clarkson outscored RIT 21-7 in the third quarter and led 38-27 heading into the fourth.
- Waite capped off an 11-4 RIT run in the fourth quarter, cutting the Clarkson lead to 53-52 on her three-pointer with 1:48 to play.
- Clarkson scored the final 10 points of the game to make it a 63-52 final.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 21-of-58 from the floor, including 5-of-17 from beyond the arc.
- Juergens scored 18 of her 19 points in the first half.
- Waite added three assists and three rebounds to her 19 points.
- Henretta finished with 10 points.
- Lauryn Withrow led Clarkson with 16 points and eight rebounds.
