Women's Basketball wins 71-58 win at Skidmore

Joseph and Juergens each with a double-double

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Senior Alyssa Juergens and junior Kaleesha Joseph each had a double-double to lead RIT (8-7, 5-5 Liberty League) to a 71-58 win at Skidmore (9-5, 4-5 Liberty League). Joseph scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Juergens tallied 17 points and had 11 rebounds.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Joseph scored 11 points, including a bucket with 11 seconds to play, to lead RIT to a 16-13 lead after the first quarter.
  • RIT outscored Skidmore 19-16 in the second quarter to lead 35-29 at halftime.
  • Joseph led the Tigers with 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Juergens tallied 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
  • RIT led 57-41 after 30 minutes, outscoring the Thoroughbreds 22-12 in the third quarter.
  • The Tigers shot 8-of-15 from the floor in the quarter, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
  • Joseph scored with 2:16 remaining in the third to give the Tigers a 52-38 lead.
  • Sophomore guard Emma Waite hit a three-pointer with four seconds to play to extend the RIT lead to 57-39.
  • Senior guard Sarah Henretta gave RIT a 60-45 lead on her layup early in the fourth quarter.
  • Waite scored with 2:51 to play in regulation to extend RIT's lead to 20 points.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 26-of-59 from the floor, including 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Tigers scored 17 points off of turnovers, 22 points in the paint and 17 seconds-chance points.
  • Waite scored 17 points and had six assists, while Henretta scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
  • Juergens shot 8-of-15 from the floor, while Joseph shot 7-of-14 and made 8-of-11 from the foul line.
  • Cassie Davidson scored 12 points off the bench to lead Skidmore.
