Kaleesha Joseph scored 20 points, while sophomore guard
Emma Waite tallied 17 points in RIT's (6-4, 3-2 Liberty League) 58-48 loss at Ithaca (8-3, 4-1 Liberty League) in Liberty League Women's Basketball action Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ithaca's Grace Cannon gave the Bombers a 13-5 lead on her layup with 3:35 to play in the first quarter.
- RIT cut the lead to 14-10 on a Waite three-pointer at the2:22 mark of the quarter.
- The Tigers, who shot 3-of-12 from the floor, were outscored 14-7 in the second quarter and trailed 29-17 at halftime.
- RIT cut the Ithaca lead to 36-29 on a Joseph free throw with 4:01 to play in third quarter.
- Freshman Sydney Pearson hit a three-pointer with 1:21 to play in the quarter that cut the Bombers lead to 42-34.
- Joseph converted an old-fashioned three-point play early in the fourth quarter that cut the deficit to five points.
- She made it a 5-point game on her bucket with 6:39 to play to make the score 47-42.
- Ithaca made two straight three-pointers, taking an 11-point lead on a Megan Yawman three with 5:25 remaining, and Cara Volpe gave the Bombers a 57-44 lead on her basket with 1:02 to play.
- Waite converted two free throws late in the game to make it a 58-48 final.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 18-of-54, including 4-of-16 from beyond the arc.
- Joseph shot 8-of-14 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds.
- Waite chipped in seven rebounds to go along with 17 points and four assists.
- Senior Alyssa Juergens had 10 rebounds to go along with seven points.
- Cannon led Ithaca with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
