Sydney Pearson each scored 13 points to lead the Tigers to a 61-57 win at RPI (1-4, 0-2 Liberty League) Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT outscored RPI 20-13 in the first quarter, and led 33-22 at halftime.
- Pearson scored with 6:30 remaining in the third quarter to extend the Tigers lead to 41-27.
- RPI went on an 8-0 run to end the quarter, tying the score at 44-44 on a bucket by Ashlynn O'Neil with under 30-seconds to play in the quarter.
- Becca Gregg scored midway through the fourth quarter to extend the RPI lead to 50-45.
- Junior Megan Roy scored off an assist from senior Taylor Signor tying the game at 54-54 with 1:51 to play.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Bockelman capped off a 12-3 RIT run on an old-fashioned 3-point play with 1:20 to play to give the Tigers a 57-54 lead.
- Signor made two free throws inside the final 10 seconds to make it a 61-57 final.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 21-of-68 from the floor, including 5-of-22 from beyond the arc.
- Joseph shot 5-of-11 from the floor and led the Tigers with 16 rebounds and three assists.
- Pearson shot 5-of-12 from the floor, while Roy came off the bench to score 11 points for the Tigers.
- O'Neil scored 13 points to lead the Engineers.
