Women's Basketball wins fifth straight with 56-43 win at Geneseo

GENESEO, NY – Sophomore guard Emma Waite scored a game-high 20 points to lead RIT (5-1) to a 56-43 win at Geneseo (4-5) Saturday. With the win, the Tigers have won five straight games.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT outscored the Knights 11-4 over the final 5:22 of the first quarter to lead 15-9. Senior forward Alyssa Juergens led the Tigers with 6 first-quarter points.
  • Senior guard Sarah Henretta drained a three-pointer with 49-seconds to play in the second quarter to give the Tigers a 31-21 lead at the break.
  • Waite led the Tigers with 10 first-half points, while Juergens tallied with eight points.
  • RIT shot 14-of-29 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including 3-of-9 from beyond the arc.
  • Waite made 1-of-2 free throws midway through the third quarter to increase the RIT lead to 37-23. She made a 3-pointer with :03 remaining in the third quarter to give the Tigers a 42-31 lead.
  • Freshman Sydney Pearson nailed a 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter matching RIT's largest lead of 14 points.
  • Henretta and Jeurgens made their free throws down the stretch to make it a 56-43 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 22-of-59 from the floor, including 6-of-20 from beyond the arc.
  • Waite shot 7-of-19 from the floor and grabbed four rebounds.
  • Joseph and Juergens each scored 10 points, while Henretta finished with nine points and six rebounds.
  • Lauren Romito led Geneseo with 10 points.
