Emma Waite led a trio of Tigers to score in double figures in a 78-50 win at Bard (1-5, 0-1 Liberty League) in the Liberty League opener Friday. Waite led the Tigers with 21 points, while junior
Kaleesha Joseph and freshman
Sydney Pearson each tallied 16 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Waite scored 14 points to lead RIT to a 26-13 first-quarter lead, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor. The Tigers broke the quarter open with a 22-2 run.
- Senior forward Alyssa Juergens scored two straight buckets early in the second quarter to extend the RIT lead to 37-19.
- The Tigers led by as many as 21 points in the second quarter and led 47-27 at halftime
- Waite led RIT with 19 first-half points, while Joseph had four assists to go along with eight points.
- Senior guard Sarah Henretta converted a pair of free throws to extend the RIT lead to 29 points at the 7:49 mark of the third quarter.
- Pearson scored nine points in the third quarter to lead the Tigers to a 67-42 lead after 30 minutes.
- Pearson scored with 6:06 to play in the fourth quarter that gave RIT a 75-42 lead, outscoring Bard 11-8 in the quarter.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 29-of-74 from the floor, including 7-of-24 from beyond the arc.
- Waite scored 14 of her 21 points in the first quarter, shot 9-of-18 from the floor and led the Tigers with five assists and six steals.
- Pearson shot 7-of-11 from the floor, and Joseph led RIT with six rebounds and four assists.
- Christina Kiser led Bard with 19 points.
