Women's Basketball rides second-half surge to 60-46 win at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Kaleesha Joseph totaled game-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Tigers to a 60-46 victory at Brockport, Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT out-scored Brockport, 14-13, in the first quarter, but the Golden Eagles bounced back to carry a 29-24 lead at halftime.
  • The Tigers put together a decisive 23-8 third quarter. Trailing, 31-26, with 8:30 on the clock, a Joseph lay-up at 7:21 kicked off an 8-0 run. Senior guard Sarah Henretta hit a pair of free-throws before another Joseph lay-up off a Brockport turnover and a Waite jumper after a blocked shot by senior forward Alyssa Juergens put RIT ahead, 34-31, with 5:56 remaining in the quarter. Brockport came back within one, 38-37, at 2:29, but the Tigers finished the quarter with nine-unanswered points, including seven by Juergens, to take a 47-37 lead into the final quarter.
  • Juergens started the fourth quarter with another lay-up for RIT's largest lead of the game, 49-37, before a three-point Brockport play cut the Tiger lead back to nine, 49-40, at the 7:04 mark. However, RIT grew its lead back to as many as 15 down the stretch to put the game out of reach.

  • Sophomore guard Emma Waite added 13 points, including a 7-of-8 showing from the free-throw line, while handing out a team-high four assists.
