Kevin Ryan scored a career-high 32 points in a 90-77 loss at Nazareth (4-1) in the 2021 Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout. Ryan shot 12-of-15 from the floor and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Tigers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ryan scored 17 of his 32 points in the first half, shooting 6-of-8 from the floor.
- Graduate student Chase Lewis pulled RIT to within two points with his bucket midway through the first half.
- Nazareth's Brendan Broderick hit a 3-pointer late in the half to give the Golden Flyers a 9-point lead, and led 47-40 at the break.
- The Golden Flyers extended their lead to 18 points in the second half.
- Ryan cut the Nazareth lead to 8 points on his bucket with 8:40 to play, and freshman Brock Bowen made a pair of free throws that cut the Nazareth lead to three points.
- Lewis laid the ball in with 6:49 remaining to pull the Tigers within 67-66.
- Nazareth finished the game on a 23-11 run to win 90-77.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 28-of-62 from the floor, including 4-of-18 from beyond the arc.
- Senior guard Curtis Nesbit scored eight points, while Bowen and Lewis finished with seven points apiece.
- Nazareth's Stephen Gabel led the Golden Flyers with 20 points and eight rebounds.
