Men's Hockey holds down Holy Cross, 3-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior forward Will Calverley notched two goals, both assisted by junior defenseman Gianfranco Cassaro and senior defenseman Dan Willett, to lead the Tigers to a 3-2 victory over visiting Holy Cross in Atlantic Hockey action, Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Holy Cross didn't register its first shot on goal until the 8:11 mark of the first period, but opened the scoring 32 second later on its second. Alex Cicero and Mike Higgins brought a puck out of the Tiger zone for an odd-man rush finished by Higgins with 7:39 left in the first.
  • RIT evened the score with 2:25 on the clock after Calverley cleaned up a short rebound on the crease after a shot by Cassaro from the top of the left face-off circle deflected down off Crusader goalie Matt Radomsky's pads.
  • Calverley got open in the low slot and scored the lone goal of the second period off a Cassaro feed from the right half boards with 1:22 on the clock.
  • RIT took a 3-1 lead with 3:22 left in the third after freshman forward Carter Wilkie took a drop pass from freshman forward Grady Hobbs in the left face-off circle and snapped a wrist shot inside the far post.
  • Holy Cross got one back in the final minute of regulation after RIT was saddled with a holding the stick penalty with 37 second on the clock, scoring four seconds after the ensuing face-off.
