Women's Basketball loses 65-57 at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, NY – Sophomore guard Emma Waite led RIT (0-1) with 24 points in a 65-57 loss at St. John Fisher (3-0) in the opening game of the 2021 Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Waite nailed a 3-pointer midway through the first quarter, to give RIT an 8-7 lead.
  • Junior Kaleesha Joseph scored on a jump-shot that cut the Fisher lead to 14-12.
  • Senior Alyssa Juergens capped off a 13-1 run by RIT with a basket to give the Tigers a 31-24 lead late in the second quarter.
  • Fisher cut RIT's lead to 31-30 with a 6-0 run to close out the first half.
  • Freshman Sydney Pearson hit a 3-pointer that gave RIT a 38-37 lead with 6:57 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Fisher outscored RIT 15-4 over the final 6:37 of the third to lead 52-42.
  • Waite hit a 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter that cut the Fisher lead to 54-47.
  • The Tigers got to within eight points twice in the fourth quarter, including inside the final two minutes on another 3-pointer from Waite.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 21-of-59 from the floor, including 10-of-28 from beyond the arc.
  • Waite led RIT with 24 points on 8-of-22 shooting.
  • Joseph grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with six points, while Juergens finished with seven points and eight rebounds.
  • Claire Kruszka led Fisher with 14 points.
