Men's Basketball loses 65-51 against St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, NY – Graduate student Chase Lewis led RIT (0-2) with 14 points in a 65-51 loss to St. John Fisher (2-2) in the opening game of the 2021 Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout at Nazareth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Freshman guard Kris Laing laid the ball in off a steal from senior Curits Nesbit to cut the Fisher lead to 5-4 early in the first half.
  • Laing scored five straight points, including a 3-pointer off a steal by senior Michael Young to cut the Cardinal's lead to 13-9 midway through the opening half.
  • Sophomore Kenny Wilburn scored with 5:22 to play in the first half to make the score 20-11, stopping a 7-0 Fisher run.
  • The Cardinals led by as many as 16 points in the first half and led 34-20 at the half.
  • Fisher increased its lead to 24 points in the second half on the strength of a 19-9 run.
  • RIT went on an 8-0 spurt late in the second half, cutting the Fisher lead 53-39 on a bucket by junior Keegan Ocorr.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 18-of-64 from the floor, including 3-of-24 from beyond the arc.
  • Lewis led RIT with 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting, including 2-for-2 from 3-point range.
  • Laing finished with 10 points, while Young grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked two shots and scored five points.
