Women’s Hockey ready for pair of weekend games against UConn

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT women's hockey team continues its season with two non-conference games opposite Union, Friday and Saturday.

CHA RECOGNITION
Freshman defender Bailey Kehl was named CHA Rookie of the Week and also received an honorable mention for top CHA weekly defender. Kehl posted an assist in each Union game last weekend to give her a team-leading three on the season.

SEASON HIGHS
Last Friday's Union game (Oct. 1) set four season highs for the Tigers in points (9), assists (5), goals (4), and power-play goals (2). It was the second time this season that the Tigers scored a pair of goals within four minutes (3:40) after notching two (3:05) in the season- opening game at Mercyhurst (Sept. 19).

TEAM LEADERS
Sophomore forward Lindsay Maloney took sole possession of the Tigers' scoring lead (2g, 2a) after registering three points against Union last weekend. Sophomore forward Emma Roland has scored in three of the team's five games and leads the team in goals (3) and shots (12).

LAST TIME OUT
RIT enters the contest after a pair of non-conference losses (7-4, 4-1) last weekend to Union.

ABOUT THE HUSKIES
UConn enters the RIT games this weekend after a season-opening pair of victories against visiting Long Island University by scores of 3-1 (Sept. 24) and 2-0 (Sept. 25).

UConn returns five double-digit scorers from last season that includes a pair of graduate-student forwards in Natalie Snodgrass (6g, 4a) and Morgan Wabick (3g, 8a). Wabick (2a) and sophomore forward Kate Klassen (1g, 1a) currently lead this season's team with two points each.

RIT VS. UCONN - HISTORY
Friday's game is the second meeting between the two teams with the only previous game going to RIT with a 4-3 overtime win on Nov. 30, 2013 at a neutral site. The Tigers never held the lead in regulation after rallying three times to force overtime.
