Men's Hockey falls at No. 13 Notre Dame, 6-0

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – RIT dropped a 6-0 decision at No. 13 Notre Dame, Saturday.
 
The Tigers (3-2-1) earned a split with the Irish (4-1-0) after picking up a 3-2 OT win on Thursday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Notre Dame opened a 3-0, first-period lead. Trevor Janicke one-timed a cross-ice feed from Chase Blackmun inside the left post at 13:49. Max Ellis jammed a shot through a crowd inside the right post at 9:25 before Janicke scored his second of the game on a shot from the point through RIT freshman goaltender Tommy Scarfone's pads.
  • The Irish built a 5-0 second-period lead. Ellis re-driected a shot from the point by Blackmun under Scarfone's stick with 7:46 on the clock before Landon Slaggert cleaned up a rebound inside the right post at 6:35.
  • The Irish tacked on the final goal with 1:30 left in regulation after Hunter Strand scored from the left face-off dot off a cross-ice feed. 
GAME NOTES 
  • Scarfone totaled 39 saves in his first collegiate appearance as Notre Dame finished with a 45-22 shot advantage.
  • RIT finished 0-for-4 on the power play while killing 3-of-4 penalties. 
  • RIT was shutout for the first time since a 3-0 setback at Canisius (Feb. 13) last season.

RIT is scheduled to host Atlantic Hockey rival Mercyhurst next Friday and Saturday (Oct. 29-30) at 7:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m., respectively.
