Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey takes down St. Lawrence, 2-1, for Brick City Weekend victory

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior forward Will Calverley scored the third-period game-winning goal off a feed from senior forward Kobe Walker to lead the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over St. Lawrence in the annual Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend game at Blue Cross Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jordan Steinmetz put St. Lawrence on the board on a shot from the slot with 14:37 left in the first period.
  • RIT scored the equalizer with 9:23 left in the second after senior forward Jake Joffe finished a rush off a pass from sophomore defenseman Aiden Hansen-Bukata.
  • The Tigers took the lead with 14:25 left in the third. The Saints attempted to start a clear from behind their own goal, but Calverley tipped the outlet pass that found Walker alone at the top of the slot. Walker slid a quick pass back to Calverley for a one-timer inside the right post.
GAME NOTES
  • RIT junior goalie Kolby Matthews totaled 32 saves, including three in the final minute with the Saints skating 6-on-5.
  • Senior forward Nick Bruce notched his third assist in as many games with a helper on Joffe's goal. Sophomore defenseman Aidan Hansen-Bukata was also credited with his second assist of the season on the play.
  • St. Lawrence finished the game with a 63-52 shot advantage.
  • RIT totaled 17 blocked shots, including seven by senior defenseman Dan Willett and three by junior defenseman Ryan Nicholson.
