2019-20 COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA AT-LARGE TEAM
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior men's ice hockey player Adam Brubacher (Elmira, Ontario/Powell River Kings) was voted a First-Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America, announced Friday.
Brubacher is the first player in program history to garner first-team recognition and is also the team's first multiple Academic All-American after landing third-team honors a season ago. He is one of only two Academic All-Americans in program history, along with Cris Maybury, who landed second-team plaudits as a senior in 1996.
Brubacher tied for 19th nationally and sixth among defensemen with 24 assists while tying for 10th in Atlantic Hockey with 28 points in his final season with the Tigers. The two-time Atlantic Hockey All-Star finished his career one of only 35 players and only six defenseman in the nation with at least 100 career points while his 80 assists were the 12th-highest total over the last four seasons. He signed a contract with the New York Islanders' AHL affiliate Bridgeport Sound Tigers last month.
Brubacher recently completed an MBA in four years, finishing his undergraduate coursework with a 4.0 GPA. The six-time Dean's List recipient earned Beta Gamma Sigma Honors and a Saunders College of Business Merit Scholarship and also received the 2019-20 Ellingson Award, honoring the top scholar-athlete in the RIT athletic department.
