ORLANDO, FL – The Rochester Institute of Technology baseball team was defeated by Rhode Island College 14-1, Wednesday, as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational during their annual Spring trip to Florida.
GAME 1
How it Happened:
- Rhode Island got off to a fast start; scoring 3 runs in the first inning, 5 runs in the second, and another 2 in the third to get off to a 10-1 lead through the game's first 6 innings.
- RIT scored in the second for their lone run of the game. Senior Joey Mylott (Aurora, OH/Western Reserve Academy) walked in the first at bat of the inning. He then stole second and advanced to third on a single by junior Luke McNamara (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin). Senior second basemen Navada Waterman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport) drove in Mylott on a fielder's choice where McNamara was thrown out at second.
- Rhode Island scored another 4 runs during the last three innings of the game to secure the win with a score of 14-1.
At the Plate:
- Sophomore Patrick Blackall (Hershey, PA/Hershey) went 2 for 3.
- Mylott went 1 for 2 and scored for RIT.
The Tigers will play another 2 games this week as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. They will next play Husson University on Thursday, Mar. 12, at 9:45 am.
