ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (9-11, 7-6 Liberty League) women's basketball team defeated Clarkson University 7-12, 3-10 Liberty League) 67-54 in Liberty League action from Clark Gym Friday evening.
RIT led 19-14 after the first quarter, and 31-30 at halftime. The Tigers tallied 12 points in the third quarter, leading 43-42 heading to the fourth quarter. RIT's offense came alive in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Golden Knights 24-12 to make it a 67-54 final.
RIT shot 49.1 percent from the floor on 26-of-53 shooting. The Tigers went 5-of-15 from beyond the arc, and went 10-of-11 from the foul line.
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) led RIT with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Kalessha Joseph tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds, while
Alyssa Juergens (Rochester, NY/Hilton) chipped in 15 points.
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) scored 13 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Hannah Earl led Clarkson with 21 points. Mariah Benavides tallied 15 points, while Emma Buonanno finished with 10 points for the Golden Knights who shot 38.3 percent from the floor.
RIT returns to action Saturday, Feb. 8, when the Tigers host St. Lawrence University at 2 p.m. from Clark Gym.
