ITHACA, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team placed second at the 2020 Liberty League Swimming and Diving Championship hosted by Ithaca College. The Tigers came home second with a team score of 1,285.5 points.

Freshman Khavy Sangasy was named Rookie of the Year, winning the title in the 200-yd. breaststroke. She won the event in a school-record and NCAA "B" cut qualifying time of 2:18.56. Sangasy also anchored the winning 400-yd. freestyle relay team to a second place finish.

Phoebe Huey (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge) placed second in the 100-yd. freestyle, finishing in a time of 53.23 seconds. Alicia Shenal (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) finished in a tie for fifth in the 100-yd. freestlye in a time of 53.64 seconds. Same Russell brought home a fourth place finish in the 200-yd. breaststroke in a time of 2:25.85.

The team of Shenal, Russell, Huey and Sangasy came home second in the 400-yd. freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 3:31.55.
