ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (11-14, 9-9 Liberty League) women's basketball team lost 91-84 in overtime to Vassar College (18-7, 14-4 Liberty League) in the regular season finale from Clark Gym Saturday. The Tigers honored seniors
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) and
Chelsea Steinruck (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) prior to the start of the game.
RIT shot 42.3 percent from the floor on 33-of-78 shooting. The Tigers went 8-of-21 from beyond the arc, and 10-of-16 from the foul line.
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) led the Tigers with 25 points.
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) tallied 16 points and had eight rebounds, while
Kaleesha Joseph (Somerville, MA/Prospect Hill Academy Charter) chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds.
Sophie Nick led Vassar with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Jackie Cenan tallied 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Brewers who shot 50.0 percent from the floor.
RIT led 20-15 after the first quarter, and 40-39 at halftime. Vassar took the lead in the third quarter, but RIt responded with an 8-0 run over the final 2:27 of the third to take a 60-59 lead. Trailing in the fourth quarter, the Tigers answered with an 8-0 run late in the game to lead 72-71. Vassar tied the score at 75-75 and outscored the Tigers 16-9 in overtime for the 91-84 victory.
RIT will be the sixth seed in the Liberty League Tournament which begins on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at No. 3 St. Lawrence University.
