ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (11-13, 9-8 Liberty League) women's basketball team defeated Skidmore College (6-18, 4-13 Liberty League) 64-51 in Liberty League action from Clark Gymnasium Friday evening.
RIT shot 36.9 percent from the floor on 24-of-65 shooting. The Tigers went 2-of-18 from beyond the arc, and 14-of-15 from the foul line.
Kaleesha Joseph (Somerville, MA/Prospect Hill Academy Charter) led the Tigers with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) tallied 17 points, while
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) chipped in 15 points for the Tigers.
Clare Driscoll led Skidmore with 15 points, while Jessica Centore tallied 14 points for the Thoroughbreds who shot 34.0 percent from the floor.
Skidmore led 20-12 after the first quarter, but the Tigers tallied 21 second-quarter points to lead 33-30 at the break. The Tigers broke the game open on the strength of a 21-3 run over a 12:46 span to end the third quarter and the start of the fourth. RIT outscored Skidmore 17-15 in the fourth quarter for the 13-point win.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 22, when the Tigers host Vassar College in the regular season finale from Clark Gym. The Tigers will honor seniors
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) and
Chelsea Steinruck (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) prior to the start of tomorrow's game.
