Box Score NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – RIT freshman forward Andrew Rinaldi (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Wellington Dukes) scored his 10th goal of the season, but it was host Niagara taking the 4-1 victory in Atlantic Hockey action, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Niagara scored the lone goal of the first period after junior forward Jack Billings converted a Tiger neutral zone turnover into a 1-0 lead with 12:14 on the clock.
- The Purple Eagles took a 2-0 lead 1:35 into the second period after sophomore forward Jon Hill scored on a left-wing rush.
- Rinaldi took a feed from senior defenseman Darren Brady (Lake Orion, MI/New Jersey Titans) at the top of the right face-off circle and spun around to score on a wrist shot through a crowd with 13:26 left in the second period.
- Niagara re-took a two-goal lead, 3-1, with 11:05 left in the second period after senior defenseman Ryan Cook collected a rebound during a rush and scored from the slot.
- The Purple Eagles scored the lone goal of the third period after senior forward Ben Sokay one-timed a slap shot from the top of the zone with 12:10 on the clock.
GAME NOTES
- Junior goalie Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) was credited with 23 saves in the setback.
- RIT finished the game with a 29-27 advantage in shots.
- RIT was held to less than two goals for the first time in 10 games (6-1 loss at Arizona State (Jan. 14).
