ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT hosts UMass-Lowell for two games this Friday and Saturday. The Tigers return to the ice following a home-and-home series with Canisius last week, including a 1-1 home tie on Friday that ended with RIT winning a shootout for the extra Atlantic Hockey point. The nationally-ranked River Hawks have won four of their last five contests, including a 3-1 win at Merrimack last Saturday to open the New Year.

Jake Joffe (Toronto, Ontario/Toronto Jr. Canadiens) scored five minutes into regulation and later scored the deciding goal during the penalty shootout during the Tigers' 1-1 draw with Canisius last Friday. The Golden Griffins found the equalizer with 2:32 left in regulation, but RIT junior goalie
Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) made five of his 21 total saves during the two overtime periods before saving two penalty shootout attempts to backstop RIT's two-point night. The next evening in Buffalo, Tiger freshman forward
Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, AK/Flin Flon Bombers) notched a pair of power play goals to help bring RIT back from a 3-0 third-period deficit, but it was Canisius scoring twice in the final minute of regulation to hold on for the 5-3 victory. Sophomore forward
Will Calverley's (Scarborough, Ontario/Chilliwack Chiefs) team-leading ninth goal of the season tied the game, 3-3, with 1:17 left in the game, but the Golden Griffins re-took the lead 17 seconds later and tacked on an empty-net goal to close the night.
ACHILLES HEEL
Penalties have plagued the Tigers during their most recent outings. RIT has finished with more penalties than their opponents in eight of their last 10 games, including a season-high 11 infractions and 33 PIM opposite Sacred Heart (Nov. 15). The squad ranks fifth nationally averaging 15.8 penalty minutes per game.
PULLING RANK
RIT is facing its third nationally ranked opponent of the season this week in UMass-Lowell. The Tigers earned a 3-2 overtime victory opposite then No. 17 Bowling Green (Oct. 11) in their second game of the season, before falling to then No. 12 Ohio State, 3-1, the following day in the championship game of the Ice Breaker Tournament in Toledo.
DRACKETT SPORTS
Junior goalie
Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) entered the week 28th nationally with a .918 save percentage as well as a 2.33 goals against average. Starting every game for the Tigers this season, he is also eighth in minutes played while compiling two shutouts and three other outings holding the opposition to one goal. Drackett made a season-high 43 saves in the Tigers' 2-1 win at Air Force (Oct. 24) on his way to Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Month honors for October. He also totaled 31 saves in the 3-2 win over Mercyhurst for his seventh outing of the season with at least 30 saves.
BREWED TO PERFECTION
Senior co-captain
Adam Brubacher (Elmira, Ontario/Powell River Kings) ranks fifth among the nation's defensemen in career scoring with 90 points, while his 66 assists are the sixth-best total. He hasn't missed a game since pulling on an RIT sweater four years ago, appearing in all 132 contests to date. This season, he leads the Tigers with 10 assists and is tied for fourth with 12 points while his +11 is the team's top plus-minus.
CALL IN THE CALVERLEY
Sophomore forward
Will Calverley (Scarborough, Ontario/Chilliwack Chiefs) leads RIT with nine goals, including three of the game-winning variety that are tied for the seventh-highest total in the nation. The Tiger's leading scorer with 16 points, he notched two goals and an assist in the 7-3 win over Mercyhurst and scored what proved to be the deciding tally in the second period of the next day's 3-2 decision against the Lakers. He also scored two goals during a 5-0 run that pushed the Tigers to a 7-4 win over visiting Holy Cross (Nov. 1).
LIGHTS, CAMERON, ACTION
Senior captain
Shawn Cameron (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Cumberland Grads) is second for RIT with seven goals and is tied for second with 14 points. He also leads the Tigers with four power play goals, including two in the 3-1 season-opening victory at Colgate (Oct. 5). The right winger also scored a goal 1:07 into RIT's 4-2 victory at Army (Nov. 23) before adding an assist in the second period.
DON'T CALL ME SHORTY
Junior forward
Alden Dupuis (Edmonton, Alberta/Bonnyville Pontiacs) scored a power-play tally in the second period and later tacked on a short-handed goal in the third period in the Tigers' opening victory over Mercyhurst. Dupuis also scored three-short-handed goals last season and is currently tied for sixth in the nation for the most short-handed goals among all active players.
