CLINTON, NY -- The RIT (3-5) women's basketball team began 2020 with a 74-51 loss at Hamilton College (10-2) in non-conference action from the Bundy Field House Saturday afternoon.
RIT shot 43.1 percent from the floor on 22-of-51 shooting. The Tigers made 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, and were 4-of-9 from the foul line.
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) and
Kaleesha Joseph (Somerville, MA/Prospect Hill Academy Charter) led the Tigers with 18 points apiece, while Joseph finished with nine rebounds.
Kelcie Zarle led Hamilton with 15 points. Kayla Glemaud and Marie Steiner each tallied 12 points for the Continentals who shot 42.9 percent from the floor.
RIT led 15-13 after the first quarter, but were outscored 30-9 in the second quarter, trailing 43-24 at the break. The Tigers came back in the third quarter, cutting the Continentals lead to 11 points, outscoring Hamilton 17-10 in the quarter. Hamilton outscored the Tigers 21-10 in the fourth quarter to make it a 74-51 final.
RIT returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 7, when the Tigers face University of Rochester at the Palestra at 6 p.m.
