ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore sprinter/hurdler
Max Gloskey (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) of the RIT men's track and field team placed 14th overall in the 110-meter hurdles preliminaries at the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Track and Field Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Gloskey recorded a time of 14.86 seconds to finish sixth overall in the third of three preliminary heats in the event. His time was 14th best of the 20 student-athletes entered, as the top nine finishers (three heat winners and next six finishers by time) advanced to the championship, which will take place on Saturday, May 25. RaShawn Jones of Wabash College had the fastest time at 14.28 seconds. Gloskey missed qualifying for Saturday's final by 39 one-hundredths of a second.
Gloskey entered the national championships with the 19th fastest time among all Division III runners in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.61 seconds. He enjoyed a tremendous outdoor season, having won the 110-meter hurdles at the Liberty League Championships, while placing third at the All-Atlantic Region Championships in his personal-best time to qualify for nationals. Gloskey was also part of RIT's 4 x 100-meter relay team that broke a 41-year old school mark (41.41 seconds) and just missed qualifying for nationals.
Gloskey also represented RIT at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, finishing 12th overall in the 60-meter hurdles, while setting the school record in the event (8.21 meters) at the Liberty League Indoor Track & Field Championships.
