ROCHESTER, NY – A small group of student-athletes represented RIT men's track and field at the SUNY Geneseo May Meet on Saturday, May 11.
Matthew Funicelli (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) won the discus throw, firing it 44.42 meters, while
Matt Ciminelli (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) was fifth with a throw of 39.87 meters.
Max Gloskey (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) won his preliminary heat of the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.96 seconds.
Jeff Walter (Buffalo, NY/St. Francis) and
Raphael Abel (/) recorded top-five finishes in the long jump. Walter placed third with a leap of 6.83 meters, while Abel was right behind in fourth, jumping 6.73 meters.
Thomas James (/) placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing 4.48 meters, while
Nicholas Baxter (Windsor, NY/Windsor) cleared 4.18 meters.
Raphael Abel (/) recorded a leap of 12.71 meters in the triple jump.
Ethan Ettienne (Lanham, MD/Model Secondary School for the Deaf) was 13th in the shot put and 14th in the hammer throw.
RIT will send a small contingent of student-athletes to the Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet on Monday, May 13, before competing at the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Championship from SUNY Cortland on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16.
