CLINTON, NY – The RIT men's track and field team competed at the 2019 Hamilton College Continental Outdoor Invitational on Saturday.
RIT had five of the top-nine finishers in the 400-meter dash.
Christopher Callejo (West Babylon, NY/Patchouge-Medford) emerged victorious, winning by 48 one-hundredths of a second in a time of 50.70 seconds.
Derek Swarthout (Macedon, NY/Penfield) (51.84 seconds) placed fourth, while
Matthew Skakal (Lancaster, NY /Lancaster ),
Matthew Woods (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and
Zach Thesier (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) were seventh, eighth and ninth.
Max Gloskey (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) broke 11 seconds in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 10.96 seconds to place second.
Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) was right behind in fifth with a time of 11.07 seconds. Gloskey and Geiger finished 1-2 in the 200-meter dash. Gloskey nipped Geiger by just nine one-hundredths of a second with a snappy time of 22.02 seconds. Both qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Championships.
Zack Wigent (Fariport, NY/Fairport) placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.29 seconds.
Ellyson Grant () finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles, recording a time of 1:00.34.
RIT's 4 x 400-meter relay team of Skakal, Thesier,
Alex Cooley (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois) and Swarthout finished fifth with a time of 3:30.18.
Jay Humphreys (Sherman, CT/New Milford) finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, recording a time of 10:17.56.
Doug Luba (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) recorded an 11th place finish in the 1,500-meters, finishing in 4:09.16.
Kyle Higby (Mexico, NY/Mexico) was 11th in the 5,000-meters (15:51.11).
In field action,
Jack Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) finished third in the pole vault, clearing 4.52 meters. Alberto Lafuente Veron also cleared 4.52 meters.
Nicholas Baxter (Windsor, NY/Windsor) had a top vault of 4.37 meters, while
Thomas James (/) was seventh.
Jeff Walter (Buffalo, NY/St. Francis) finished sixth in the long jump, recording a leap of 6.43 meters.
Devante Marshall (Gloversville, NY/Mayfield) placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.83 meters, while Raphael Abel was right behind in eighth, jumping 12.56 meters.
Matthew Funicelli (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) finished third in the discus throw with a toss of 42.69 meters. He was also fifth in the shot put, firing it 14.22 meters.
Zach Darling (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) was right behind in ninth with a throw of 13.24 meters in the shot put.
Connor Murdock was seventh in the javelin throw (41.40 meters), while Daniel Pinigan (36.46 meters) placed 11th.
RIT returns to action next weekend at the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell University and the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.
