BOSTON, MA – Senior sprinter
Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) set a school record in the 200-meter dash, and anchored a new program mark in the 4 x 400-meter relay, as the RIT men's track and field team sent a select group of student-athletes to the 2019 David Hemery Valentine Invitational from Division I Boston University Saturday.
Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) recorded a time of 22.15 seconds in the 200-meters, while
Matthew Lienhard (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) was right behind, finishing in 22.61 seconds. Geiger's time is a top-35 time in Division III and broke Lienhard's school mark, set last season, by a tenth of a second.
The 4 x 400-meter relay team of
Christopher Callejo (West Babylon, NY/Patchouge-Medford),
Stephen Morrissey (New Milford, CT/Trinity-Pawling School),
Jeff Walter (Buffalo, NY/St. Francis) and Geiger smashed a nine-year old school mark in the event by just under a second in a time of 3:18.31. Currently, the time of 3:18.31 is the ninth fastest in Division III this season.
Sprinter
Max Gloskey (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) just missed qualifying for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 8.37 seconds. He just missed breaking Cameron Lee's school mark in the event of 8.32 seconds, set six years ago. It is a top-30 time in Division III this season.
In the 5,000-meters, senior
Evan Feigel (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) recorded an impressive time of 14:39.65, which is among the top-20 nationally in Division III this season. Classmate
Otto Kingstedt (Stockholm, Sweden/Cybergymnasiet) also broke 15 minutes, completing the race in 14:50.18, which also a top-35 time nationally.
Herlandt Lino (New Milford, CT/New Milford) recorded a time of 8:42.77 in the 3,000-meters, while
Dan Jones (Lockport, NY/Lockport) finished in 8:53.96.
On the field side,
Ethan Ettienne (Lanham, MD/Model Secondary School for the Deaf) and
Zach Darling (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) were 11th and 12th, respectively, in the weight throw. Etienne fired the weight 15.47 meters, while Darling had a throw of 15.28 meters.
Matthew Funicelli (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) had the 18th best result in the shot put, with a toss of 13.63 meters
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Feb 16 at the RIT Last Chance Invitational from the Gordon Field House.
