Men's basketball loses to Vassar on buzzer beater

ROCHESTER, NY -- Vassar's (10-12, 6-9 Liberty League) Zach Bromfeld tipped home a shot at the buzzer Friday that gave the Brewers a 75-73 win over RIT (5-16, 2-12 Liberty League) men's basketball in Liberty League action from Clark Gymnasium.

A pair of Will Atkinson (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) free throws with 5:38 remaining gave the Tigers a 71-63 lead. The Brewers outscored the Tigers 12-2 in the final five minutes to secure the win. Bromfeld tied the score at 73-73 on his layup with 44 seconds to play. RIT had the ball in the final seconds, but turned it over leading to the Vassar bucket. Alex Seff missed a jumper with time running out, and Bromfeld got to the loose ball and tipped the ball home as the buzzer sounded to give the Brewers the win.

RIT shot 45.2 percent from the floor on 28-of-62 shooting. The Tigers made 12-of-25 from beyond the arc, and made 5-of-6 from the foul line. Jayme Rosser led the Tigers with 21 points to go along with three assists. Marcell Davis (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Institute) tallied 14 points and had eight rebounds, while Cobey Adekanbi (Bloomfield, CT/Loomis Chafee) chipped in 10 points off the bench for the Tigers.

Lance Tebay led Vassar with a game-high 22 points. Seff finished with 16 points and five rebounds, while Bromfeld chipped in 16 points off the bench for the Brewers, including the game-winning bucket.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 9 when the Tigers host Skidmore College at 4 p.m. RIT will honors its four seniors, Davis, Rosser, Justin Schneider (Aurora, NY/Southern Cayuga), DJ Walker (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) prior to the game.
