ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team plays their final two home games of the 2018-19 season this weekend, Feb. 22-23 versus College Hockey America rival Penn State University. The Tigers and Nittany Lions meet at 2 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday from the Gene Polisseni Center.

The Tigers (11-14-5, 7-8-1 CHA) enter the weekend riding a three-game unbeaten streak. RIT earned three hard-fought points against Syracuse last weekend, winning 1-0 on Friday night, while skating to a 1-1 tie Saturday night. On Friday, Rushton scored midway through the second period, while Lanteigne turned aside all 40 shots she faced for her third shutout of the season. Saturday, Cornine scored a first period goal and Lanteigne stopped 43 of 44 shots in the draw.
Cornine leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and 18 points, while
Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) leads the team with 12 assists and is right behind with 17 points.
Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) leads all RIT defensemen with 15 points, while Rushton is right behind with 14 points. Lanteigne is second among all Division I goaltenders with 1,001 saves and is third with a .943 save percentage. She also has a 2.05 goals against average, while playing in all 30 games.
Penn State enters Tuesday's contest with a 10-12-8 overall record and is 4-8-4 in league play. The Nittany Lions recorded a pair of ties on home ice last weekend against Mercyhurst, skating to a 1-1 draw on Friday and 2-2 deadlock Saturday. Penn State enters Friday's contest on a seven-game winless streak, but also have a three-game unbeaten streak. Natalie Heising leads Penn State in scoring with 24 points on 13 goals and 11 assists. Kelsey Crow has a team-best 14 assists. Jenna Brenneman is 10-11-8 in net with a 1.79 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.
Penn State leads the all-time series between the two schools, 17-13-3. The Nittany Lions won the first two meetings between the two schools earlier this season on home ice by scores of 3-0 and 2-1.
Jordan Marchese (Mississauga, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) scored her first collegiate goal for RIT in the 2-1 loss on Nov. 21.
The Tigers enter the weekend fourth in the CHA standings with 15 points, while Penn State is fifth with 12 points. Each team has four regular season games remaining. As it currently stands, RIT and Penn State would meet in the first round of the CHA Tournament, which begins on March 6 at Harborcenter in Buffalo.
