ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward
Heron Rohweder scored the game-winning goal, her first collegiate goal, to lead the Tigers 3-2 win over Delaware, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Delaware's Danic Mark scored 3:57 into the first period to give the Blue Hens the lead.
- RIT fired six shots on goal in the opening period, including one from junior forward Brac Kelly late in the frame.
- First-year forward Brynn Evans scored her first collegiate goal 59 seconds into the second period off assists from Kelley and Mackenzie Clarke to tie the score 1-1.
- Junior forward Zoe Ziotas stole the puck at center-ice, skated in and scored short-handed at 19:19 of the second to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
- Reese Reid scored a power play goal at 19:37 of the second to tie the score 2-2.
- Rohweder scored 7:24 into the third period to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Kelley fired a shot. The rebound caromed off the back boards to Rohweder in the face-off circle and she fired a wrist shot into the top-right corner.
GAME NOTES:
- RIT outshot Delaware, 34-14
- The Tigers went 0-for-1 on the power play while the Blue Hens went 1-for-2
- First year goalie Oceanne Thiffault won her first game in a Tigers sweater, making 12 saves.
